Research Interests: On the academic level, I have been heavily involved in representing the University by presenting manuscripts and gaining their publication in conference proceedings as well as academic journals. This work allows me to continue my interest in research in such areas as; workplace violence, stress management, the interview in the selection process, and the importance of an understanding of personality types in all aspects of the work environment.
Areas of Expertise: Because of the education and my varied professional careers, I feel that I have a good practical, working knowledge of what is needed in the work environment. My work life has included many interesting jobs to include: high school teacher and coach; supervisor of a division in the area of Human Resource Management with the Department of Army in Huntsville, AL from which I took an early retirement; arbitrator in the areas of labor/management of which I serve, or have previously served, on numerous regional and national panels to include Tennessee Valley Authority – International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers and the U. S. Postal Service – American Postal Workers Union; Social Security Administration – and American Federation of Government Employees. I also serve as a mediator and have served as a consultant for various organizations. I owned a small business for 15 years. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor but do not practice because of other interests and time constraints.
Hobbies: I have been a basketball official on all levels from elementary through college level for over 50 years. (Yes 50). When my two daughters were young, I was a little league coach and served on the board. I have served on several community boards for the county in which I livfe. Currently my real passion is in reducing the over population of domesticated animals (canine and feline) through snip and clip and neutering programs. Needless to say, I have a cat and dog that helps make up my family since my girls are grown. Oh yes, the other real passion is my two grandchildren.
