Kappa Delta Pi
Kappa Delta Pi is an international honor society in Education. It was founded in 1911 at the University of Illinois. The Athens State University chapter, Rho Gamma, was established in 1985. Organized to recognize excellence in education, Kappa Delta Pi elects those to promise in teaching and allied professions. "Membership is by invitation to prospects who meet certain criteria: senior level status with a minimum overall 3.5 GPA, (or junior level status with a minimum overall 3.75 GPA), certain professional and personal standards, and three faculty recommendations."

Student Alabama Education Association (SAEA)
The Athens State University Student Alabama Education Association or the Athens State University SAEA is an organization which offers you opportunities for developing personal growth, supportive friendships, and liability insurance for your protection. This organization was designed for all students enrolled in the Athens State University School of Education.

Physical Education Club
The purpose of this organization is to develop leadership, scholarship, and professional awareness in students majoring or minoring in Health, Physical Education, or Wellness. Members join the State Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance and the American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance Association, and attend and present at state, regional, and national conferences. Heritage Reading Council
The Heritage Reading Council is a local affiliate of the Alabama Reading Association and the International Reading Association. The council is open to all Athens State students who are interested in promoting literacy. Members are current and former students in the area and teachers in the Limestone County and Athens City Schools. The total membership is approximately 140. The council meets on campus in the Athens State ballroom every other month. The programs feature renowned authors, state personalities, local reading teachers, storytellers, etc. Each meeting also features a teaching tip to take back to the classroom and door prizes (free books) are given at each meeting.
